Prospects for Detecting Exoplanets around Double White Dwarfs with LISA and Taiji

چکیده

Recently, Tamanini & Danielski (2019) discussed the possibility to detect circumbinary exoplanets (CBPs) orbiting double white dwarfs (DWDs) with Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA). Extending their methods and criteria, we discuss prospects for detecting around DWDs not only by LISA, but also Taiji, a Chinese space-borne gravitational-wave (GW) mission which has slightly better sensitivity at low frequencies. We first explore how different binary masses mass ratios affect abilities of LISA Taiji CBPs. Second, certain known detached high signal-to-noise ratios, quantify CBP detections them. Third, based on DWD population obtained from Mock Data Challenge, present basic assessments in our Galaxy during 4-year time Taiji. constraints detectable zone each system, as well distributions inner/outer edge zone. Based population, further inject two planet an occurrence rate $50\%$ constrain total detection rates. finally briefly habitable CBPs simplified model. These results can provide helpful inputs upcoming exoplanetary projects help analyze planetary systems after common envelope phase.

Eccentric Double White Dwarfs as Lisa Sources in Globular Clusters

We consider the formation of double white dwarfs (DWDs) through dynamical interactions in globular clusters. Such interactions can give rise to eccentric DWDs, in contrast to the exclusively circular population expected to form in the Galactic disk. We show that for a 5 yr Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) mission and distances as far as the Large Magellanic Cloud, multiple harmonics fr...

Probing white dwarf interiors with LISA: periastron precession in eccentric double white dwarfs.

In globular clusters, dynamical interactions give rise to a population of eccentric double white dwarfs detectable by the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) up to the Large Magellanic Cloud. In this Letter, we explore the detectability of periastron precession in these systems with LISA. Unlike previous investigations, we consider contributions due to tidal and rotational distortions of ...

Disks and Planets around Massive White Dwarfs

We predict the existence of dusty disks and possibly CO planets around massive white dwarfs. We show that the thermal emission from these disks should be detectable in the infrared. The planets may also be detectable either by direct IR imaging, spectroscopy, or using the pulsations of the white dwarfs. Subject headings: white dwarfs—stars: planetary systems—accretion disks

The Lisa Gravitational Wave Foreground: a Study of Double White Dwarfs

Compact object binaries, mostly double white dwarfs, are expected to be a source of confusion-limited noise for the gravitational wave observatory LISA. In a specific frequency range, this ‘foregound noise’ is predicted to rise above the instrumental noise sources and hinder the detection of other types of signals, e.g., gravitational waves arising from stellar mass objects inspiraling into mas...

Imaging planets around nearby white dwarfs

We suggest that Jovian planets will survive the late stages of stellar evolution, and that white dwarfs will retain planetary systems in wide orbits (∼ 5 AU). Utilising evolutionary models for Jovian planets, we show that infra-red imaging with 8m class telescopes of suitable nearby white dwarfs should allow us to resolve and detect companions ∼ 3MJUP. Detection of massive planetary companions ...
